New paws for my fursuit!
Now that I have had the opportunity to wear the fursuit a few times, I have started to come up with improvements for it.  The first one that I decided to do was to make new feet and paws for it.  This page shows how I made the new paws.  Check the page for the new feet as well, and then the page for the new head!

First I did a tracing of my hand .  As you can see, I left plenty of excess material around the fingers especially to allow for bending around the edges.  The pattern here is two layers thick.  Notice that in order to get my fingers into a four finger paw, I am making the third finger wide enough to get my middle and ring finger inside together.

Here I have pinned the two layers together and I am checking to make sure that I can easily slide my hand inside.

Here I have transferred the measurements for the fingers to the white fur and you see the steps in making a finger.  On the left is the fur sewn into a tube.  In the middle is  one with the ends sewn shut and the corners sewn at a 45 degree angle.  Make sure when you transfer the measurements, to leave about 1/4 inch on the seams  on each side.  The 45 degree stitches that you see on the middle piece are cut off after being stitched.  The piece on the right is a complete finger turned right-side out.

Here is a full set of fingers ready to go.

The palm and wrist parts of the pattern are now transferred to the fur and cut out.  The outside edges of the paw are sewn next.

Here all four fingers are stuff inside the paw and then hand sewn in.  The fingers are right-side out, and the paw is inside-out for this part.

Here is the paw after sewing.

Here is a trial fit.  To make it easier to put them on, I marked the inside edge of each one with Left and Right labels.  Much easier to see when wearing a head.

The palm side of the new paw.

And here are both new paws together.

And for the final touch, I added the same Tandy claws that I used on the feet.
